UK Coastguard assessing ‘likely’ pollution after North Sea collision

The UK Coastguard said it was assessing the “likely” counter-pollution response that could be required following a collision between an oil tanker and cargo ship in the North Sea on Monday.

“The incident remains ongoing and an assessment of the likely counter pollution response required is being enacted,” a UK Coastguard spokesperson said as rescue operations were under way after the incident off the northeast coast of England, with reports of the ships on fire.
