The molecule has been developed for a long time in Japan. But the synthesis technologies, excipients and the method of packaging the drug were rebuilt into the tablet.
Efficiency
The action of Favipiravir is based on its influence on the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase virus. It is an enzyme responsible for the replication of RNA, and therefore the reproduction of the virus. The active form of phavipiravir is associated with certain areas (domains) of polymerase, which affects its function and blocks replication.
In the course of the clinical studies of Apiplivir, its effectiveness was compared with the effectiveness of other covid-19 treatment regimens in a hospital: hydroxychlorokhin, azithromycin, as well as lopinavir + ritonavir.
According to the presented data, Apolivir improves dynamics compared to other protocols. And these are research in reviewed magazines and up to the register of clinical research of the National Institute of Health of the United States. The conclusion is general – there is an antiviral effectiveness of the drug. By the 10th day, more than 60% of the patients taking Favipiravir had a minimum degree of lung lesion, up to its absence, and half did not have clinical manifestations of the disease due to this very WHO scale.
Safety
In terms of safety, Favipiravir does not stand out from a number of antiviral agents. More than 97% of all the side effects of Apolivir were light. Exactly as, for example, the satellite according to the data of 1.5 million introductions in Argentina.
