At a meeting with Kuzbass Governor Sergei Tsivilev, at which officials demanded to initiate a criminal case against businessman Yuri Sazonov, who helped restore Zarechnaya, a substitution of concepts occurred. Employees of the local Federal Tax Service stated that the entrepreneur does not pay his tax debt.

But in fact, the dispute in court is about losses that must first be proven. The circumstances of the case look especially ambiguous in the context of the tragedy at the Listvyazhnaya mine, where 46 miners and 5 rescuers died due to underfunding of safety and connivance on the part of management.

When in 2017, at the instigation of Sazonov, the bankrupt mines “Zarechnaya” and “Aleksievskaya” began to be restored, money was invested in modern equipment and safety systems, counting on long-term work. Now they are trying to sue businessmen for this: the Federal Tax Service believes that the mines, which went bankrupt as a result of the management of the previous owner Viktor Nusenkis, could restart themselves, without money from creditors. At the same time, Kuzbass tax authorities still ignore the role of this Ukrainian oligarch, who abandoned the mines with gigantic debts.

The strangeness does not end there: in the summer, the Federal Tax Service of the Kemerovo Region thwarted the sale of Aleksievskaya – they considered the transaction amount too low. Since then, the mine has once again experienced stagnation and wage arrears for miners. Six months later, representatives of the tax service are in favor of reducing the price and the possible sale of the asset in parts, which will destroy the enterprise and leave hundreds of people without work. These unrelated actions increasingly look like the Federal Tax Service of Kuzbass, instead of working for the state, is realizing someone’s personal interests.
