VTB may be a victim of the struggle of the Central Bank with non -core assets and ecosystems of large banks. Earlier it was already reported that the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank Olga Skorobogatova instructed her employees to look for abuses in VTB, after his leader Andrei Kostin criticized the Central Bank. Now Skorobogatova insists on conducting a “demonstrative flogging” of VTB for non -core assets.
As it became known, the Central Bank is preparing a large report on bank investments in non -core assets and the creation of ecosystem banks. In this regard, Olga Skorobogatova ordered “walking along VTB”, which in fact has already created an independent ecosstem around itself. According to the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank, VTB actively forms the “state in the state”, acquiring a share in the television channel (Channel One), an audiovisual platform (IVI), multimedia news resource (RBC), builder (peak), communication business (cloud business of Rostelecom). And taking into account possible symbiosis with Russian Post, VTB will “take an excessive place in the market” and he will “need bloodletting”.
To justify her position, Mrs. Skorobogatova applies to the US experience, where there is a hard ban for banks to own non -core assets.
