The investigating authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Sverdlovsk Region opened and investigated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (the sale of goods and products that do not meet the safety requirements of life or health of consumers, which, due to negligence, resulted in the death of two or more persons) . The punishment for the commission of this crime is provided for up to 10 years in prison).
According to the investigation, in the period from October 7 to October 14, 2021, alcohol -containing fluid (methyl alcohol), which is a danger to the life and health of consumers, was on the territory of the Chkalovsky district of Yekaterinburg. As a result of the use of the specified fluid, 18 people died.
On behalf of the head of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee for the Sverdlovsk Region, the investigation is carried out by the first department for the investigation of particularly important cases, investigative actions are carried out with the participation of employees of the forensic department of the regional IC of Russia. An inspection of the scene and searches was carried out, witnesses are interrogated, the necessary examinations are scheduled. In hot pursuit, two suspects are established and detained, the necessary procedural actions are carried out with their participation, including the issue of the election of restraint measures against them will be resolved.
