Shares in Japan’s SoftBank soar 8% after Trump AI announcement

Shares in Japanese tech behemoth SoftBank Group soared more than eight percent on Wednesday after US President Donald Trump announced a major investment to build AI infrastructure.

The venture led by SoftBank, Oracle and ChatGPT-maker OpenAI is called Stargate and “will invest $500 billion, at least, in AI infrastructure in the United States,” Trump said.
