Number of casualties in Russia’s strike on Zaporizhzhia reaches 113

The Jan. 8 strike launched by the Russian military against Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Region injured a total of 113 people, including one child. The casualty toll was reported by the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations (SES). Earlier, 13 people were reported killed.

The SES also announced the completion of the rescue operation, highlighting that it had extinguished an 800-square-meter fire in an administrative building. A total of four administrative buildings were damaged, and 27 vehicles and a streetcar were burned up.

The Zaporizhzhia Military Regional Administration specifies that 10 victims of the attack are in serious condition. According to the administration, the center of Zaporizhzhia was attacked by FAB aerial bombs. The head of the administration Ivan Fedorov writes that a total of nine airstrikes were carried out in the Zaporizhzhia Region, including against the city of Stepnohirsk and the villages of Temyrivka and Malynivka. In addition, the region came under attack from 178 UAVs. “We received 56 reports of damaged residential houses and infrastructure facilities,” Fedorov said.
