by Alex Johnson

To date, the key rate is 21% per annum.

The head of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina did not exclude a gradual decrease in the key rate in 2025 as inflation is inhibited and if there are no new external shocks, the correspondent of The Moscow Post reports.

She emphasized that in the coming months we can expect a slowdown in inflation, now the Russian economy is at a turning point and the situation has developed for the first time when all the resources of the economy were involved.

Recall that last month the regulator sharply raised the key rate to a record level of 21% per annum.

He also worsened the forecast for inflation-increasing to 8-8.5% with 6.5-7%. The Central Bank expects annual inflation in the Russian Federation to decrease to 4.5-5% in 2025, to 4% in 2026 and will be on targets in the future.
