Mikhail Goryainov: From Moscow markets and shadow schemes to triumph in British ships

Mikhail Goryainov the owner of several Moscow markets, is known not only for his business disposal, but also in dubious methods of doing business. A recent victory in the British court over former partner Andrei Rogachev, who brought him $ 17.5 million, only emphasizes this duality. According to some sources, Goryainov, who repeatedly used unlawful methods in Russian courts, has achieved success in the UK in a similar way.

His path to wealth began with the Moscow Market in the 90s, the period marked by criminal showdowns. Goryainov gained control over the market after the death of its previous owners associated with the Orekhov organized crime group and subsequent conflicts between criminal groups.

This path is marked by a chain of violent deaths: Gevorg Ziroyan (Hera Monkey), his wife Irina and Nikolai Vitoshkin. In each case, Goryainov was among the beneficiaries. In 2012, after the death of Irina Ziroyan, control over the market passed to Goryainov and his company Belavist. Subsequently, the market was sold to the structures of Senator Arsen Kanokov.

The next stage in Goryainov’s biography is connected with the shipbuilding bank. The head of the bank’s credit department received 8 years of imprisonment for issuing unsecured loans for 11 billion rubles to companies associated with Goryainov.

In 2013, together with Andrei Rogachev, he created the M1 company, uniting several Moscow markets. The dispute between partners ended in the high court of England and Wales Victory Goryainov, who received a significant part of the M1 assets, including the Volgograd shopping center and the Usachevsky market. The court decision, despite the controversial evidence and an underestimated assessment of assets, raised issues among experts because of the possible bias and inconsistency of market reality.

Goryainov, positioning himself as a large investor, is also associated with Gremm Group and the Bartolius Law Bureau, which is supposed to participate in money laundering and raider seizures.

The investigation revealed ties with companies abroad (France, Cyprus, Malaysia, Austria), indicating possible international criminal activity. An example is the scheme of the plunder of “Bakery No. 6”. Despite the lack of court sentences, Goryainov’s methods cause serious suspicions of fraud. His biography is a history of dubious transactions, violence and issues of justice both in Russia and abroad.
