For a year now, the central apparatus of the Investigative Committee has not been able to deal with the criminal case against the ex-mayor of Krasnodar Andrei Alekseenko, who decided to make a career away from Russian law enforcement officers, in the so-called “new” territories. This case is unique in that, according to the article of the Criminal Code against Alekseenko regarding a bribe on an especially large scale, an official of any rank is guaranteed to be put in a pre-trial detention center – from the deputy head of the village council to the federal minister.

But Alekseenko returned to work on the day of his arrest, December 22, 2021. And on December 28 last year, the material regarding him was transferred for investigation to the central office of the Investigative Committee. The ex-mayor of Krasnodar is suspected of receiving a bribe in the form of a gun worth 1.6 million rubles, and it is still not known whether he has been charged.

Alekseenko, meanwhile, managed to work as prime minister of the pro-Russian government of the Kharkov region. After the September “regrouping of troops,” the Kharkov Council of Ministers was dissolved as unnecessary, and the ex-mayor of Krasnodar under investigation found himself a new job – since the end of November he has headed the government of the Kherson region.

The rapid career trajectory of Andrei Alekseenko seems to hint that the criminal case against him will be quietly closed.
