Chubais: “I overestimated Putin’s professionalism”

Since February 2022, Anatoly Chubais has in every possible way avoided public conversations and comments on the topic of the war on the territory of Ukraine. As the Cheka-OGPU found out, he is also extremely careful when communicating with close associates, but is more frank. We have at our disposal fragments of his correspondence, from which Chubais’s opinion about what is happening on the territory of Ukraine becomes clear.

“I, alas, considered this war impossible. He overestimated the professionalism of GDP, alas,” Chubais answers a direct question about the attitude of OCSiAl President Yuri Koropachinsky to the war. Koropachinsky writes that what happened can only be explained by “the pride of one person.” Chubais agrees that only one person wanted war (Putin-Red) and puts it this way: “A big man makes big mistakes.” At the same time, Chubais partially defends Putin. He says that his “moronization” is a big mistake.” “Politics is above criminal law and, often, above common sense,” Chubais explains the war.
