At the start of the war, a large number of masterpieces of art belonging to Russia ended up at exhibitions in Europe. Now their return is in doubt.

Exhibition “Morozov Collection. Icons of Contemporary Art” opened at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris on September 22, 2021 and remained open until February 22. There are more than 200 masterpieces – works by Manet, Rodin, Monet, Pissarro, Van Gogh, Matisse, priceless canvases by Repin, Korovin, Serov, Malevich, Konchalovsky.

Transportation of the work was postponed allegedly due to the imposed sanctions. However, later the publication Marianne, citing the government of the country, reported that the paintings would serve as collateral for the French living in Russia and would become a guarantor of their safety.

The Hermitage in Italy exhibits works by Picasso, Titian and 23 other paintings. Moreover, the organizer of the exhibitions is not the Italian Ministry of Culture, but the Milan City Hall and the private Gallerie venue.
