At a meeting with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Health, it was announced that cases of mental disorders among mobilized people are increasingly observed. Residents of border areas also need help. However, they decided to “treat” the disorder by keeping silent about cases of violence and propaganda.

Why?

This, as the Cheka-OGPU found out, was also voiced at the meeting. There is no one and nowhere to treat mentally ill people in Russia.

At the meeting it was announced that currently, out of 244 buildings of psychiatric hospitals, 14 are in disrepair, 20 require reconstruction, and 184 require major repairs. Of the 372 buildings of psychoneurological dispensaries, 3 are in disrepair, 10 require reconstruction, 137 require major repairs. In addition, according to the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, there is a need for the additional construction of 58 psychiatric hospitals and 43 psychoneurological dispensaries.

The staffing of medical organizations with psychiatrists practically does not increase and amounts to 82.1%, children’s psychiatrists – 80.8%, and adolescent psychiatrists – 73.8%. Also, in addition to psychiatrists, the healthcare system remains insufficiently supplied with psychotherapists and specialists with non-medical education (clinical psychologists, social work specialists and social workers) involved in the provision of medical care in the “psychiatry” profile. Thus, the staffing level of psychotherapists is only 57.8%. Psychologists are reluctant to work in medical organizations due to low wages.
