As the Cheka-OGPU learned, the case of Lieutenant Colonel Mikhail Gorbunov and Captain Ivan Gudkov, who served in the FSB Directorate for the Samara Region, was submitted to the Central District Military Court in Yekaterinburg.

Gorbunov is charged with four counts of accepting bribes and two counts of abuse of power. Gudkov is accused of three counts of mediation of bribery and receiving one bribe.

FSB officers, according to investigators, provided protection for “businessmen” involved in oil theft through tappings and dubious oil refining. They also took money for patronage in the service of traffic police officer Isabek Ramazanov. This position was supposed to help Gudkov ease his own fate – according to the pre-trial agreement, he could only have one episode left.
