On July 4, prisoners with near release dates were gathered in the canteen for a conversation about career guidance. The meeting was led by the main “educator” from the Federal Penitentiary Service, Vorobiev, and two representatives from the Ministry of Defense in civilian clothes. For the sake of order, they announced two possible jobs in factories after leaving the colony, but the vast majority of the time they were campaigning for participation in hostilities. They promised salaries of more than 200 thousand rubles, a one-time payment of 50 thousand rubles from Sobyanin, repayment of all debt obligations, except alimony. They guaranteed housing in Moscow.
However, the prisoners reacted coolly to the recruitment; no one even asked any questions. There is a common belief in the zone that an overcrowded punishment cell (12 people) and a PKT (9 people) indicates the creation of unbearable conditions for prisoners in order to stimulate the conclusion of contracts with the Ministry of Defense. Previously, there were 3-4 people in the punishment cell, and 1-2 people in the PKT.
