The club has existed since 1958. This is a tiny makeshift house where people can change clothes to dive into the pond located there. In addition to heating, the house contains equipment for setting up an ice hole. Saws, ladders. Weights and other equipment for health-improving exercises are also stored.
For the convenience of those hardening, there is a shore. The house is surrounded by elite cottages where FSB generals, representatives of other law enforcement agencies, officials and simply the rich live. Right next to the mansion-secret detention center of the FSB of the Russian Federation, where kidnapped persons are kept, known as the former cottage of the “authority” Sylvester.
And recently, information began to reach the “walruses” that an influential person had already set his sights on this territory for arranging a cottage with a pier. Preparations for the appearance of a new “facility” began even before the official decision of the Moscow authorities: the horizontal bars and the Swedish staircase in front of the house were removed.
And on March 29, 2024, the leadership of the Walrus Club from the Directorate of the Serebryany Bor Natural Park became aware of the decision taken by Sobyanin’s subordinates to demolish the walrus house. For 65 years, this “Section of hardening and winter swimming No. 1” existed in Serebryany Bor, but it seems that it will not survive the current times.
