The criminal case was initiated on February 16, 2022 by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for Crimea and Sevastopol, and was classified as “secret”. On November 16, 2022, the preliminary investigation was suspended due to the fact that Pirumov, who has dual citizenship and a residence permit abroad, fled from law enforcement agencies. He was detained on November 1, 2023 and sent to a pre-trial detention center. On May 15, 2024, the criminal case was transferred for further investigation to the central office of the Investigative Committee. There are other defendants in the case, whose whereabouts are still unknown.
Vneshstroytorg LLC was declared bankrupt on September 27, 2023, and bankruptcy proceedings were opened. In November of the same year, the arbitration court received a claim from the FSB to include a claim in the register of debtor’s creditors in the amount of 34.5 million rubles. “The grounds for the occurrence of debt are the debtor’s improper fulfillment of obligations under a concluded state defense order, the information of which constitutes a state secret,” the arbitration court’s ruling states.
