Today it became known that the International Monetary Fund increased the assessment of the growth of the Russian economy this year, the correspondent of The Moscow Post reports with reference to Organization report.
Based on the document, in 2024 the IMF is waiting for the real growth of Russia’s GDP by 3.2%, which is 0.6 percentage above the January forecast at 2.6%.
In 2025, the IMF expects a slowdown in Russian economy to 1.8%, explaining this with a fading effect of high investments and confident personal consumption supported by an increase in salaries.
The fund also notes that Russian export of oil is growing despite sanctions. This, according to experts of the currency fund, is associated with the expanding tanker fleet transporting Russian oil, and the fact that Russia managed to establish its own insurance of naval oil transportation.
According to Rosstat, in 2023, the Russian economy increased by 3.6% – positive dynamics became maximum since 2021, when, against the background of the low pandemic base of 2020, the GDP increased by 5.9%.
In early April, the chairman of the Russian government, Mikhail Mishustin, admitted that the Russian economy has all the prerequisites in order to enter the TOP-4 in the world.
The basis of confident restoration dynamics was internal resources – consumer and investment demand, explained to the Ministry of Economic Development. The official forecast of the department of September 2023 involves an increase in Russia’s GDP in 2024-2025 by 2.3% annually.
