At least six Russians were involved in the explosion of the ammunition depot in the Czech Republic in 2014, the operation was led by GRU GRU Andrei Averyanov, the joint investigation of The Insider and Bellingcat was approved. The Czech network publication Seznam writes that in the group of Russians there was also an employee of the Russian Embassy in the Czech Republic Sergey Fedotov. Officially, the Czech authorities consider two citizens of the Russian Federation – Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, they are put on the wanted list involved in the explosion.

The Insider and Bellingcat investigation was carried out with the participation of the German magazine Der Spiegel and the Czech Rospekt. The material claims that the explosion in the ammunition warehouse in the Czech village of Vrbetitsa was a “sabotage”, led by General Andrei Averyanov, commander of the GRU military (the main intelligence administration of the Russian Federation, the modern name – the Main Directorate of the General Staff) No. 29155. Together with them, his subordinates from the same military unit Denis Sergeyev, Yegor Gordienko, as well as also took part in the operation. Lieutenant Colonel Nikolai Yezhov and the alleged employees of the GRU Anatoly Chepig and Alexander Mishkin (they supposedly hide under the names Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov).

According to the publication, gentlemen Petrov and Boshirov used fake passports for the names of Ruslan Tabarov and Nikolai Priests. The Russians contacted IMEX (she was engaged in the storage of weapons in the Vrbetitsa) and, introducing themselves as potential buyers, asked for access to the closed section of the warehouse for the period from October 13 to 17, 2014. After that, representatives of IMEX contacted the Bulgarian weapon of weapons by Emelyan Goebrev, who kept part of the weapon in this warehouse. The company told Bulgarin about potential buyers for his weapons, who want to meet until October 15, but Mr. Goebrev did not want to meet. The explosion in the Vrbetitsa occurred on October 16, 2014 at the ammunition warehouse No. 16, as a result, 58 tons of ammunition were destroyed and two IMEX employees were killed. Any details about the organization of the explosion in the investigation are not given.
