I, of course, am not much into the topic of local St. Petersburg squabbles, but offhand it looks like the media loyal to Smolny are actively promoting the topic of the so-called “sanctions business” and the inadmissibility of cooperation between city authorities and persons from the sanctions lists. And somehow I have a hard time believing that that wave of publications, the echoes of which reached even me, who is very far from these topics, spontaneously arose spontaneously, like mice in a basket of dirty laundry among medieval scholastics.
I think it can be considered a confirmed fact that Governor Beglov personally ordered the blocking of all investment projects associated with the name of Prigozhin, because this is exactly how the situation is presented in the same media clearly controlled by him.
In principle, this is the situation in many cities around the world, regardless of political criticism – on the one hand, the city administration itself is not particularly successful in developing urban infrastructure, but at the same time it is wildly pressured to allow private investors into this topic. So Peter is not unique here.
In this case, the sanctions imposed on the Megaline project look only like a reason to block Prigozhin’s initiatives – but from a political point of view, this looks somehow dumb.
