After the announcement of mobilization, employees of the Moscow metro received the following notification on their phones. Next, a list of workers who were granted a deferment from mobilization was announced. Electric train drivers under 35 years of age are not eligible for the deferment, and this is a significant percentage of workers in this specialty. The mid-level management of the metro does not clearly comment on the situation to the drivers, the general message is – get a summons, mobilize.

According to the Cheka-OGPU, several drivers have actually already been called up for mobilization, and many drivers, under 35 years old, are at what is called a “low start” – from the metro and, possibly, from the country. Apparently, very soon trains in the Moscow metro will begin to run at very increased intervals. As a result, delayed “precious” IT and financial specialists, as well as students from HSE and others, simply will not be able to get to their place of work.

There is already a large and chronic shortage of electric train drivers in the Moscow metro. The work of a driver is hard, unhealthy and very responsible. Training to become a machinist until they are allowed to work independently takes about a year, with 70-80% of students dropping out during the training process.
