An investigator from the investigative department of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Kamchatka Territory detained a 30-year-old guide who participated in organizing the ascent of tourists to the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano and accompanying them on the tourist route.
During the investigation, it was established that on August 30, a group of tourists who arrived from 7 regions of Russia, consisting of 10 people and two guides, began climbing the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano in the Ust-Kamchatsky district of the Kamchatka Territory.
While descending on September 3 along the rocky part of the hill at an altitude of about 4.5 thousand meters, 8 tourists and 1 guide fell down and fell down, where 5 people received injuries incompatible with life.
The 4 people who remained at the height subsequently died within 3 days.
Currently, the man is being interrogated as a suspect in a criminal case regarding the provision of services that do not meet the safety and health requirements, resulting in the death of 9 tourists (Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
He is placed in a temporary detention center.
The investigative body decides whether to select a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention.
