Accused of the death of 13 people in the Kostroma nightclub “Polygon”, Natalya Belenogova, her passport was burned during that ill-fated fire. On this basis, and also referring to her lack of a foreign passport, the defense concluded that Belenogova had no real opportunity to hide from the investigation and asked to be released from custody. The Moscow City Court, however, upheld the decision of the Basmanny Court to extend the arrest of the accused until April 5.

The owner of the burned club, deputy of the Kostroma Regional Duma from United Russia, Ikhtiyar Mirzoev, shifts all the blame to Belenogova. The businessman’s defense claims that it was she, as the director of Imperia LLC, which organizes the work of Polygon, who had to comply with fire safety requirements in the club.

However, the decision to extend Mirzoev’s arrest until April 5 was upheld by the Moscow City Court. In the near future, the investigation will issue a petition for another extension of the arrest of the accused. The criminal case against the main accused – serviceman Stanislav Ionkin, who opened fire in the club – has been separated into separate proceedings. At the end of February, a court in St. Petersburg extended his arrest for two months.
